The river's waters in the dam on the Paulinskill River are the most relaxing place to be. The sounds of the water rippling, the views of historic buildings, and the most diverse wildlife in one concentrated spot, all add to the sense of peace and calm. The people who live in this house must love sitting in their yard listening to the river. I know I did. When I went on my walk through the woods along the river I remember the soothing sounds of the river rushing as I sketched the home and its wildlife, only to be inspired to put it to canvas later on. Much of the gestural color and line is from remembering the emotions I felt sitting and enjoying the surroundings.
